Today, I am writing this blog because something delightful, emotional, and slightly disappointing happened over the past few days. It’s one of those small, everyday moments that stays with you — not just because of what happened, but because of how it made you feel. It began with a trip to the mall with Munchie, a visit to the playzone, and ended in an unexpected and sweet surprise involving Pokémon-themed Oreo biscuits.
Day before yesterday, Munchie and I visited the playzone at the mall, a place we often go to for some lighthearted fun. With every game you play there, you earn credits. Over time, we had accumulated a whopping 16,000 credits, which opened up a world of possibilities at the reward counter. As we explored the place, our eyes fell on a big, cuddly Pikachu toy. It was hard to miss — cheerful yellow, soft plush, and just the right size to hug. My heart instantly wanted it. I asked Munchie, “Can we take it?” He replied, “If you buy this from Hamleys, it’ll cost around ₹2400. Let’s check there first.”
We walked over to Hamleys with high hopes. But to our disappointment, they didn’t have that particular Pikachu in the size we wanted. There were other Pokémon toys, but nothing came close to the one we had seen in the playzone. Disappointed but still hopeful, we returned to the playzone — only to find it had just closed. The clock had struck 10 PM, and the shutter was down. That soft toy was now just a dream behind a closed gate.
Today, we went back to the mall, hoping to claim our Pikachu before anyone else did. But fate had a different plan. The toy was gone. Someone else had taken it. My heart sank a little. I felt like I had missed out on something I really wanted. Munchie noticed the change in my mood. Then, with a small smile, he pulled something out of his bag and said, “See, I have Pikachu for you.” I looked around, confused. “Where?” I asked. That’s when he handed me a small pack of Pokémon-themed Oreo biscuits — a limited edition. The pack had two biscuits inside, each with a different Pokémon character on it. A small surprise, but so thoughtful that it instantly lifted my mood.

There were two distinct flavours inside the pack — Choco Crème and Strawberry Crème. Let’s start with the Choco Crème. This biscuit had a strong resemblance to the classic Oreo many of us grew up loving. The crunchy, dark chocolate biscuit exterior was rich and slightly bitter, just enough to balance the sweetness of the chocolate filling inside. The crème itself was smooth and melted in the mouth, offering a creamy, cocoa-laden richness that paired perfectly with the crisp outer biscuit. What made this special wasn’t just the flavour — it was the design. Each biscuit had a character from the PokĂ©mon universe embossed on it. I held one up to see Pikachu’s tiny face smiling back at me. The joy wasn’t just in eating it, but also in discovering which character you’d get next.

The Strawberry Crème flavour was a delightful surprise. Unlike the strong, indulgent tone of the Choco Crème, this one was light, fruity, and playful. The biscuit still had the same crisp chocolate shell, but the inside was filled with a pink strawberry-flavoured crème. The aroma was subtly sweet and nostalgic, like the candy-flavoured treats we had during childhood. The taste was balanced — not overpowering, not artificial. It gave a nice contrast to the deep flavour of the biscuit shell. This combination reminded me of strawberry milkshakes and summer evenings, and the Pokémon characters printed on the cookie just added another layer of charm.

What truly stood out about this limited-edition Pokémon Oreo biscuit was not just the taste, but the emotion packed within it. It was more than just a snack. It was a small, edible version of the happiness I had hoped to get from that giant Pikachu toy. Munchie knew that the real value wasn’t in the size of the Pikachu or the price tag — it was about the feeling. That little biscuit, shaped with characters I’ve loved since childhood, gave me a taste of joy when I needed it the most.
The design of the packaging also added to the experience. Bright, colorful, and filled with playful imagery from the Pokémon world, it immediately caught the eye. It felt like a collector’s item, something you’d want to preserve as much as you’d want to eat. The effort Oreo put into making this edition was evident. It wasn’t just a marketing gimmick. It was a celebration of nostalgia, flavour, and fun.
Looking back, the day wasn’t a loss. I may not have taken home the big Pikachu toy I had my eyes on, but I got something just as memorable — a small act of love wrapped in a biscuit pack. Munchie understood the value of thoughtful gestures. And for that, I was grateful. It’s funny how sometimes a moment of sadness can be turned around by something so simple and small.
So, if you ever come across this Pokémon edition of Oreo biscuits, don’t hesitate to try them. Whether you’re a fan of chocolatey indulgence or fruity sweetness, there’s something for everyone. More than that, there’s a little bit of magic in each one — a reminder of childhood, of shared memories, of the joy in little things.
